My Thoughts On The Mortal Kombat 2021 Movie

Image
I've been a huge long-time fan of the Mortal Kombat franchise since I was just a little kid and the original was released in arcades back in 1992. That being said, I really didn't mind the Mortal Kombat 2021 movie even though it has been criticized by many. Sure there are some thing's in it that I didn't like. For example I didn't like how quickly Goro was taken out by the new character Cole Young or how I thought some character's didn't get enough screen time. I didn't let that ruin the whole movie for me though. Some people think that it was nothing like the games but in my opinion I think that if it was exactly like the games then we would already know what to expect and it wouldn't be very interesting because we've already seen it in the games. I try to look at it as a different take on the Mortal Kombat story. Something new that we haven't seen. In the recent game there are different timelines with different outcomes. You can...

Alien: Romulus Quick Review (No Spoilers)

Image
Alien: Romulus became a hit at the box office and as of now it has made over $200 million globally and will mostly likely continue to keep doing well. It is a great movie to see in the theater. I had heard really good thing's about it before seeing it but I still went into the movie without setting my expectations too high. I loved it and think it is the best Alien movie to come out since Aliens. The movie has so many tense and unexpected moments that will keep you in suspense. Also several claustrophobic moments. It has that dark and creepy atmosphere to it. I was taken by surprise in a lot of scenes in this movie. They were able to try many new thing's and threw in some easter eggs and throwback references that I think fans of the franchise will love. It had a young cast which at first I thought may be an issue for an Alien movie but I think they were pretty good. I really enjoyed Cailee Spaeny's performance as the protagonist Rain. If you are an Alien fan I b...

The Mangler (Spawn Series 7) From McFarlane Toys

Image
Photos taken from my own collection  When I was a kid, anytime I went shopping with my family I would go straight for the toy section to see what new Spawn figures had been released. I believe it was in the year 1997 that on one particular day I had walked in to a KB Toys and saw The Mangler on the shelf. I thought it was one of the coolest looking Spawn figures I had ever seen. I immediately asked my mom if she could get it for me and she said she would get it for my birthday, which she did. It's been one of my favorite figures since then. I've always liked the design and details which McFarlane Toys is well known for. The Mangler was part of Spawn Series 7 and was released in February of 1997. He stood 6 inches tall and came in blister packaging like most action figures did.  The Mangler was created for the toy line and didn't appear in the comic's until later on in Shadowns of Spawn which was part of a Japanese shonen magazine called Monthly D...

Deadpool & Wolverine Quick Review (No Spoilers)

Image
Deadpool & Wolverine is an incredibly fun movie full of thrills and hilarious moments. It made a record breaking $211 million on opening weekend at the box office and still continued to break records throughout the following weeks. This movie is full of cameos, easter eggs, and references to the comic's that fans will love to see. It also pays homage to some of the older Marvel movies. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman knocked it out of the park. It's almost like they were born to play these characters and it's great to finally see them team up. Everyone's costume looks awesome on screen and pretty accurate to the comics. I loved this movie and it is now one of my favorite movies to come out in the last decade. I'll definitely be watching it multiple times when it comes out on digital and blu ray. I can put it in a list of some of my top favorite comic book/super hero movies. If you're a fan of the characters Deadpool and Wolverine, I believe you wi...

The First Time I Ever Played Mortal Kombat

Image
I still remember the first time I ever played Mortal Kombat like it was yesterday. It was the early 90's and I was at a place called Shenandoah Acres with my family and friends. It was a lake/campground where we would go swimming every summer. There was a beach on the lake that had a shack with an arcade and a shop where you could get food and things like swimming gear and pool toys. I remember spending alot of time in the arcade. The wooden floors were covered in sand from people dragging it in on their feet and the place had a beach like smell to it. There was a huge variety of games and it was pretty loud from all the different sounds coming from them. I never got bored of that place. On one particular day when I walked in, I heard some sounds from a game that sounded different than usual coming from the back. It sounded like a fighting game. When I got to the back there was a new arcade game that stuck out to me. It was Mortal Kombat. I watched a couple of older kid...

A Quick Talk About Story Mode In Mortal Kombat 1 (No Spoilers)

Image
Since I had pre-ordered Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition for the PS5, I recieved my copy in the mail a day early before its release and was ecstatic to play it. I had been keeping up with any news on the game since it was first announced. The first thing I do when I start playing a new Mortal Kombat game is play the story mode. I've always enjoyed the story of Mortal Kombat and can't ever wait to see what's going to happen next so I like to jump right into it. Since this game takes place in a new timeline, I wasn't sure what to expect at first. I really liked the opening of the game and the events that took place early on. I immediately got hooked. It was cool to see a different take on the characters and the story. It was also nice to see some returning characters that haven't been in a Mortal Kombat game in a while. There are some twists in the story that keep you interested and make you wonder if certain characters are going to turn out to be a bad guy...

Playing Rampage

Image
The first time I had ever played Rampage was sometime between the late 80's and the early 90's. My mom and grandma would take me to this laundromat that had arcade machines. They would give me a bunch of quarters to play games while they were doing laundry.  I would spend most of my time there playing Rampage and trying to see how far I could get. I was big into monster monster movies when I was a kid so when I saw the game was about giant monsters destroying cities I got hooked on it. Rampage was released in 1986 in arcades and was developed by Midway. 2 years later it got a release for the Nintendo Entertainment System in December of 1988. That version was also developed by Midway and published by Data East. You could play as 3 different characters who were humans that turned into monsters from experiments gone wrong. George who was an ape, Lizzie who was a lizard, and Ralph who was a wolf. If you play with other people you can fight each other or help...
